100th Day of School!

We celebrated the 100th Day of School with fun activities, a special visit from Whiskers the Wildcat, and stickers for everyone. Some people even dressed the part for this special day! It’s hard to believe that Spring is right around the corner.

Winter Fest 2024!

We had a blast at our annual Winterfest! Gaga Ball was a huge hit and there were so many fun options for everyone to enjoy. Handmade polar bears and delicious ice cream were popular as we glided through the chilly day.

Spreading Holiday Cheer

Our friends at Shepherd’s Haven invited us to stop by this month. We made some cute crafts, played games, and got to know each other a little better. Simple kindness and warm smiles are the best gifts we can give one another, especially during the holidays.

A Talented Group

Our students showcased their many skills at a delightful talent show this month. It was wonderful to watch these courageous performers take the stage. A nice blend of holiday songs, provided by our chorus, rounded things out perfectly. We wish everyone a peaceful and happy holiday season!

2nd Annual Career Fair at Windsor

We had a great turnout this year! Our students met entrepreneurs from a wide variety of backgrounds and had a chance to engage in meaningful conversations. Representatives from several colleges and career paths distributed important information and hopefully inspired some of our young adults to think about the possibilities that lie ahead.

Still in Demand After a Decade

The PAWS program at Windsor is going strong! Students and dogs are always eager to meet one another and have some fun. On the surface, it may seem like all cuddles and treats but the benefits go way beyond that and have a positive impact on everyone involved. We are so grateful to the incredible volunteers at PAWS in HAND who continue to make it all possible.

Fire Prevention Week

In recognition of Fire Prevention Week, we invited the Pompton Lakes Fire Department to visit Windsor. They explained the importance of fire safety, answered numerous questions, and demonstrated how firefighters help us during emergencies. We are so grateful to them for putting their lives at risk for all of us every day. Here are some highlights from their visit:

  • Smoke alarms should be installed inside every sleeping room, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of your home. Smoke alarms should be interconnected so that when one sounds, they all sound.
  • Know at least two ways out of every room, if possible. Make sure all doors and windows open easily.
  • Have an outside meeting place a safe distance from your home where everyone should meet.
  • Practice your home fire drill at least twice a year with everyone in the household, including guests. Practice at least once during the day and at night. Make sure your plan meets the needs of all your family members, including those with sensory or physical disabilities.
  • Plan your escape at fpw.org

Fall Farm Tour Fun

It was so nice to experience a day on a beautiful farm. We learned about horses, explored a corn maze, and tasted fresh apples and cider. On a guided hayride tour, we heard about the history of the farm and all of the healthy vegetables and fruits that are grown there. This led to a field of pumpkins where everyone raced to pick their favorite one. What a great way to welcome the season!
