A Glowing Vocabulary

Practicing sight words is a lot more fun when the letters glow in the dark. Neon pipe cleaners and black lights made this a very memorable and sensory lesson. Students couldn’t wait to make each word on the list.

A Bushel of Fun

A field trip to a local apple orchard is always full of fun and surprises.  Students and adults love the fresh air and freedom they feel while walking among the trees and searching for their favorite types of apples. Whether they’re eaten at the farm or baked in a pie at home, these apples are certain to be sweet and delicious!

A New Year and a Fresh Start

Along with cooler temperatures and falling leaves, September brings with it a feeling of excitement as everyone heads back to school.  At Windsor, we are all looking forward to an amazing year filled with growth and new opportunities for our students.

Dog Days of Summer

Our friends from PAWS visited us twice this summer! It was so nice to see them and to meet their furry companions. This invaluable experience helps our students learn how to approach dogs cautiously and increases the sense of trust that the dogs have for people.  We are so grateful to all of the amazing volunteers at PAWS who make this special program possible.

Tales of Transformation

Christopher Agostino, a popular storyteller, illustrated traditional folktales and fascinating original stories for us. We learned about many world cultures and were captivated by the details of each wonderful story as they came to life on the faces of our eager volunteers.

Field Day Excitement

Field day was absolutely phenomenal! Students couldn’t wait to race their painted pine derby cars down the long wooden track and to shoot their rockets high into the clear blue sky. New friendships were formed as we played together and enjoyed the fresh air. We experienced pure and simple fun on this beautiful day at the park.

High Exposure is a Huge Hit

We ventured to high places this summer and everyone loved it! Students and staff enjoyed challenging themselves with awesome rock climbing walls and ninja warrior-style obstacle courses.  For some, it was their first experience trusting the person that promised to lower them safely to the ground from a spot very high in the air.  They pushed hard to make it to the top of the wall and held on tight while creeping along the slippery pipes. It was a very exciting trip and we can’t wait to go back again.

Achieving Balance

Some of our younger students learned about Cairn rock balancing and related emotional vocabulary words like focused, calm, and patient. They learned descriptive terms about the size, shape, and textures of different rocks and even made their own balancing kits out of clay to bring their newly found Zen home with them.
