Families enjoyed a wide variety of activities at our annual fall festival. Windsor has been hosting family fun nights for eight years now and these special events are a great opportunity for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves. This year, we ended the evening with a glow in the dark dance party which proved to be a huge hit.
Windsor joined schools across the nation during the Week of Respect to take a stand against bullying. We emphasized the importance of celebrating our differences and accepting everyone for who they are. It was great to see so many people “teaming up” for this special cause.
Our fall field days were absolutely incredible! Whether someone wanted to play sports, play board games, chase a friend or go on the swings, we had the perfect weather and place to do it all. It was a fantastic opportunity to make new friends and try something different.
Practicing sight words is a lot more fun when the letters glow in the dark. Neon pipe cleaners and black lights made this a very memorable and sensory lesson. Students couldn’t wait to make each word on the list.
As they learn how to cook simple meals for themselves, our students become more self-sufficient. Dicing tomatoes, browning ground beef, and shredding lettuce are just a few of the important steps they recently followed to complete a taco recipe. Besides being a step towards independence, cooking is fun and we truly enjoy it!
A field trip to a local apple orchard is always full of fun and surprises. Students and adults love the fresh air and freedom they feel while walking among the trees and searching for their favorite types of apples. Whether they’re eaten at the farm or baked in a pie at home, these apples are certain to be sweet and delicious!
Our photography students are using forced perspectives to create an optical illusion. Using an assortment of toy cars, their goal is to trick the viewer into thinking the cars are real. They’ve been having a great time with this assignment and the results are quite impressive.
Along with cooler temperatures and falling leaves, September brings with it a feeling of excitement as everyone heads back to school. At Windsor, we are all looking forward to an amazing year filled with growth and new opportunities for our students.
We assembled and decorated trimarans that sailed in Windsor’s first boat race. Using straws to provide wind power, we raced each other to victory. It was a cool way to learn about aerodynamics.
